For more than 30 years we’ve manufactured under the Vermont Precision Woodworks brand and imported furniture under the Alaterre and Bolton Furniture brands. The Vermont Precision heritage dates back to 1789. Our predecessor, founded in Connecticut, operated the Vermont division as Pratt Read & Company. The Division was purchased by two native Vermonters in 1989 and renamed Vermont Precision Woodworks. The first line of furniture was introduced in 1984. Prior to this, our primary products were precision wood components for the piano and musical instrument industry. All our furniture designs, domestic or import, are handcrafted using the same precision required for the musical instrument components.
Bolton Furniture, Inc. is now a stand alone company from Vermont Precison Woodworks. Alaterre Furniture is our brand carried within Bolton Furniture, Inc.
